Team update : Carl "Baz" Friebus

o
How do you feel about being on Daylife? What's your favorite product?
o    Good hahaha, I don’t know, can u have a favorite product of Daylife?  The pegs is the shit right there!

Plastic or Metal Pedals?
Metal pedals are by far the best.

Why was your bike so damn ugly for so damn long?
Dammed, why do you remember this stuff?  I’m trying to think of a reason.  I really cant tell you that..

Favorite Tricks??
Tailwhips, feeble 3’s, No-hander’s!  No footer Cans on tranny. That’s about it.
Why did it take so long for you to catch pedals on Tailwhips?? and how sick did you get of the twins giving you a hard time?

While, when I use to practice them at the boogaloos park,  I somehow dislocated my right ankle. I think that’s why I was so scared to put my feet on the pedals after that.  I don’t know , they never got to me that bad, I took it as a joke with them.

You've become a regular at Gums. What is your favorite obstacle/line??
Well ill have to say the hip line coming off the right line..  The trick jump is fun to ride as well.

What is the key to a good Gum Trails Braai??

Jimmy’s!! Black label and the Godfather!

You are quite a Big Boy?? How often do you gym??

Baz big downside whip. Gumtrails

The only gym I go too  , is Gumtrails!

Street, Trails or Park???
Trails and park for sure!  A good street sesh is always good, especially with the Durbinville locals.

Favorite Riders??? Local and International
Uhmmm.. Local Greg Illingworth, Malcolm
Peters and Colin Loudon   , International Matt Priest, Aaron Ross, Damion Devlin!!

You have been brakeless for quite some time. How do you feel about brakes?
I love brakes I just hate brake leavers. I got stabbed by a mono lever in my leg.. no more brakes after that. And the frame I’m riding does not have any brake mounts. Who needs to stop anyway these days?

How did you get 9 1/2 fingers??? Tell us about Stumpy…

270 no hander. Langebaan park
Oh damn, one day at work I was busy with the hydraulic press.Guess I wasn’t thinking straight at that point. The tip of my left index finger got stuck in there and got pressed off.  I’m sure you don’t need to know more than that.

I know you like to party. What is your drink of choice for a good night?

You cant go wrong with the Blacki !  Rum and whiskey’s also good.

How do you feel about the South African Police and Security guards for that matter?
The Police and Security I don’t mind.. It’s the traffic department who arrested me for drunken driving.  They for sure can get in the way of having a good night out.. Don’t think I should say more than this..  Let’s just leave it at that.

Thanks to Wayne Reich for the Q's, Epicko, and Eric Palmer for the photo's.

Sneak Peak//Wayne Reiche Parts

Here are a few sneak peaks of our man Wayne Reiche's signature parts!

Sprockets will only come in 25 and 28 tooth, raw and black.
The stem is designed especially for trails. It has a slimmer design than the Fountain stem with a 59mm reach, and is also internally hollowed to save some weight. It is CNC-machined out of billet 6082 T6 aluminium.

The parts still need some final extra touches before they're ready for production and Wayne's destruction!
